Albania and Balkan area

Rosa and Rroghozine

Three weeks travelling through the Balkans almost all by train was a extra ordinary experience. I spent 10 days in Albania and with the help of my translator Oriola I was finally able to spent a few days with the workers at some albanian train stations. Most of the time we drank coffee or played domino or cards…as in their 12 hour working shift only two trains come through each station. In Rrogozhine the workers believed I would be a german inspector and will send Albania new machines and equipment from Germany soon. Even if I told them I am not they didn´t quite want to believe me. It was so delightful to see Rosa setting up her little snack shop every morning and then again in the afternoon. The umbrellas shade perfectly adjusted to her face and also the snacks…It was a pleasure meeting all of the people in and also behind the pictures I shot…
